For individuals and families who are interested in cremation, it is important to understand that just as with earth burial there is a broad range of choices and options involving cremation. Those choices include:

Direct Cremation

DIRECT CREMATION:   Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health/Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification of Social Security and Veterans Administrations when required; furnishing of rigid alternative container for transportation and cremation of body; service vehicle and Licensed Funeral Director for transfer to crematory.   Total of these services is $1750.  (Crematory fee varies and is an additional outside expense)

Options:
Cremation urn appropriately engraved.
Scattering of cremation remains at sea.
Memorialization at cemetery or columbarium.
Memorial printing / announcements / acknowledgements.
Temporary or permanent disposition at crematory.


Simple Service at Funeral Home

SIMPLE SERVICE  AT FUNERAL HOME, FOLLOWED BY PRIVATE CREMATION:

 Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health/Registrar; refrigeration of remains (1day) in lieu of embalming; staff and facilities of funeral home for service and limited visitation period (without viewing); obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification of Social Security and Veterans Administrations when required; furnishing of rigid alternative container (draped with pall or flag in funeral home during service) for transportation and cremation of body; service vehicle and Licensed Funeral Director for transfer to crematory for private cremation. Total for these services is $3450.  (Crematory fee varies and is an additional outside expense.)

Memorial Cremation Service

CREMATION FOLLOWED BY MEMORIAL SERVICE AT FUNERAL HOME:

Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health/Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification of Social Security and Veterans Administrations when required; furnishing of rigid alternative container for transportation and cremation of body; service vehicle and Licensed Funeral Director for transfer to crematory for private cremation; staff and facilities for Memorial Service. Total of these services $2960.  (Crematory fee varies and is an additional outside expense.)

Cremation Service
at Crematory Chapel

SIMPLE CREMATION SERVICE AT LOCAL CREMATORY, (without viewing or visitation).:

Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health/Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification of Social Security and Veterans Administrations when required; furnishing of rigid, cloth-covered wooden container for transportation and cremation of body;  vehicle for transportation of body to crematory, Licensed Funeral Director for supervision of funeral at crematory. Total for these services $2830.  (Crematory fee varies and is an additional outside expense.)

Modified Service with Cremation

VISITATION WITH VIEWING AT FUNERAL HOME, COMPLETE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, WITH PRIVATE CREMATION.

Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; embalming and care of deceased; cosmetology, dressing and casketing; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health / Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification to Social Security and Veterans Administrations; supervision of staff and facilities for service and 2 hour visitation period; furnishing of cloth-covered wooden casket; service vehicle and Licensed Funeral Director for supervision of transfer to crematory for private cremation. Total of these services is $5240.  (Crematory expense varies and is an additional outside expense.)

For a Woman, add $135 for Lady Attendant-Beautician.

Church Service Preceding Cremation

TRADITIONAL CHURCH SERVICE PRECEDING CREMATION/BURIAL:

Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; refrigeration (1day) in lieu of embalming; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health / Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification to Social Security and Veterans Administrations; coordination of arrangements with church and pallbearers; Licensed Funeral Director for supervision of funeral from funeral home to church and crematory; furnishing of embossed, cloth-covered wooden casket for bearing of body to church and cemetery or crematory. Total of these services is $4040.  (Crematory and Church fees vary and are additional outside expenses.)

Select Service with Cremation

TRADITIONAL SERVICES AT FUNERAL HOME, WITH DAY AND EVENING VISITATION FOLLOWED BY PRIVATE CREMATION:

Includes: First-call information and assistance; transfer of deceased from local hospital; Licensed Funeral Director for arrangement conference with family; embalming and care of deceased; cosmetology, dressing and casketing; obtaining, completing and filing of death certificate with local Department of Health / Registrar; obtaining Medical Examiner's authorization and cremation permit; services of Notary Public; notification to Social Security and Veterans Administration when required; supervision of staff and facilities of funeral home for afternoon and evening calling hours and service; furnishing of embossed cloth-covered wooden casket for repose and cremation; service vehicle and Licensed Funeral Director for supervision of transfer to crematory for private cremation. Total of these services is $5440 (Crematory fee varies and is an additional outside expense. (Add $135 for Beautician if deceased is female.)
