She was born to Richard and Theresa Morris on June 14, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY. Most of her life she lived in East Meadow, the last 21 years in The Meadows Senior Community.
MaryAnne was a strong woman who overcame many adversities in her lifetime. A devoted mother raising two children on her own, she worked extremely hard to give her children the best in life. With determination and courage, she went to school in her thirties and became an accomplished Insurance and Real Estate broker. She worked for many years for at The Havendale Agency and also served as vice president in charge of insurance at Security Mutual. Her ability to balance motherhood with all of her other responsibilities will be forever inspirational.
Generous to a fault, she always put the needs of others ahead of her own. So much so that if you admired something of hers, she would insist you take it with you. For her, life’s greatest reward was celebrating the successes of her children and grandchildren. She would so burst with pride over every little milestone that happened in her family that she would need to share it with others, whether that be a close friend or a complete stranger. MaryAnne made everyone in the family feel deeply loved.
MaryAnne was always dressed to the nines and took great pride in her appearance. For her, fashion always took priority over practicality and we will always cherish the memories of her walking with high heels through a muddy field or shivering because a hat would mess up her hair. MaryAnne enjoyed a variety of hobbies, one of which was painting. She once won first prize for a painting she entered in a local art show. Later in life, she spent hours writing poems which she loved sharing with family and friends.
She leaves behind her son Charles Kamps and his wife Francine, of West Babylon, NY; her daughter Deborah Paradis and her husband Vincent of Addison, Vermont; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Migdalen and his wife Erin and of Malverne, NY, Jen Paradis and her husband Kevin Adams of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kelly Paradis and her husband Casey Robison of Seattle, WA, Amy Paradis and her partner Boone Burleson of Sheldon, VT; her great grandchildren Kate, Avery, Ryan, Maddie and Archer. She is also survived by her brother Richard Morris and his wife Dolores of Flushing, NY and four nieces and their families.
The family would like to express gratitude to the caring aides and nurses of BrightStar Care North Shore and Good Shepherd Hospice Care who affectionally cared for our mother in her last few months.
