Lovingly remembered by friends and family, Dr. John Patrick Costello peacefully passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at the age of 75 at NY Presbyterian Hospital. John leaves his son Kevin Costello, his son Daniel Costello and his wife Alison as well as two grandsons Cooper and Bennett Costello. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Riemer and his former wife, Lorraine Costello in addition to three nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Ferrara Costello; his father, Dr. John M. Costello; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Richards and Elizabeth Poggiali. Born in Ithaca, NY. John graduated from Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal School and Archbishop Molly High School in Queens. He graduated from Fairfield University in 1966 and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1970. He completed a specialization in Orthodontics at Forsythe Dental Institute in Boston, now located in Cambridge. John joined his father’s orthodontic practice in 1972 and took over upon his father’s retirement in 1975, practicing orthodontics in Dutchess County for 47 years. A long-time resident of Hyde Park in Dutchess County, John was an active member of Regina Coeli Roman Catholic Church. He took great pride and joy in his profession. He actively served on the board of the Ninth District Dental Society and Dutchess County Dental Society (DCDS), including roles as President, Steward, and Chairman of the Dutchess Community Outreach and Helping Hand Committees.
